Jamie, with rescued dogs Buddy and Ellie

Our Mission

To rescue, rehabilitate and shelter dogs who have been neglected, abused, abandoned, and may have no other hope. "It's not a second chance, it's the chance they never had". We show these dogs that they can have a happy, quality life.

While we can provide all of the daily care the dog receive here, it's the donations that make it possible.

Accomplishments in 2006

A total of 38 dogs found new homes. That included the last 4 of our Hurricane Katrina Rescue trip.

New arrivals included:

Max- the black Labrador who was found in his apartment lying next to his "guardian" who had committed suicide. She filled his water dish with antifreeze (reportedly to have Max take his life as well), but Big Max wanted to live, and we took him in, showed him that confidence and strength finds love, and found him an amazing home!

Dewey, Rosie and Sweetie- 3 of 29 confiscated by a "hoarder" 6 hours north of us. When we heard about the 29 dogs who had not seen sunlight, or the outside of the tiny house in years, we went to visit the dogs to see who we can take in to rehabilitate. Since this was a criminal case, we would keep them as "evidence" for the alleged criminal's hearing. The dogs were petrified, skinny, loaded with parasites, and other health and behavioral issues. We worked on emotional and physical rehab, and, after the Judge allowed us permanent custody, we were able to adopt them out.

Sweetie and Rosie-from neglect and sickness, to a loving family.

Gypsy- This big black dog was found in a dumpster and looked like a skeleton. When we saw the photos, we didn't know if he was even alive. This was the worst case of neglect and abuse we had ever seen. Only something very powerful kept this dog alive! The first 24 hours at the vet was dismal. Day after day; week after week, fighting illness after illness, Gypsy kept holding on with mild improvements. It was only a total of 6 months later that he was ready to interview families to adopt him! Finally, he became a shining, happy, well adjusted Labrador ready to start over!

Bernie was purchased for protection but spent 24/7 in a tiny cage. He has permanent musculoskeletal problems and is afraid of most people. He will likely be in our care for his life. It's ok because he has a whole bunch of fans who adore him and who he loves back!

There were 39 other dogs we became a home for awhile to at Rescue Rehab Home in 2006. Included in that was a litter of 7 pit bull mix puppies and their over protective mom!

We participated in many outreach events and functions to raise awareness of the importance of spaying and neutering pets, to help reduce overpopulation and the unnecessary killing of hundreds of thousands in shelters each year.

We helped local residents during and after hurricane disasters by housing their dogs at no charge while they recovered and rebuilt their homes and lives.

We trained 1 dog to be a service/assistance dog.

We graduated 3 dogs with their AKC Canine Good Citizen Achievement. One was adopted and became a Certified Therapy Dog.

Early in 2007, Jamie Wolf (RRH Founder) purchased 10 acres of property in Colorado for the purpose of building a Sanctuary where the most unadoptable dogs can spend their lives frolicking in the sun, grass, snow, all while playing with their other canine pals. This is a HUGE undertaking in both finances and responsibility. We need your help more than ever to help us meet our goal of a 15 acre property in Northern Colorado to help the most needy dogs.

We will keep our website updated with information and pictures of our progress.
